SAE-A members include engineers from every technical discipline and the professionals who work closely with them to improve vehicle efficiency, performance, reliability and safety.

Membership of the SAE-A comprises individual and corporate members, encompassing the entire spectrum of the Australasian automotive industry including: scientists, technicians, research institutions, vehicle and component manufacturers, designers, importers, students, academics, government authorities, oil companies, insurance assessing, consulting, vehicle servicing and aftermarket sectors. SAE-A offers a common ground for members to interchange ideas and information and make valuable contacts for the future.

The SAE-A has divisions in all capital cities.
